my first issue was the expansion tank leaks-

August, 2009.

my first issue was the expansion tank leaks during my vacations.

problem description of expansion tank leaks:
The problem start to appear with short distances drive and very hot temperatures.

the problem look like a micro cracks material on the top of welding seam.
then I bought a hose plastic paste in the drugstore shop.
day by day checking and filled with a layer paste

but the coolant always found the way of outgoing for somewhere pore.

I have been driven during 2000 kilometers on this way with the paste, until I have returned to my town to go to the dealer in the last week of august.

*************************
After to talk with the dealer and I asked for a favor to let me assemble the expansion tank., the dealer said no problem.

during the 2010 maintenance and issues

January 2010,
SID advised me again for mechanic control to be performed after one year.
see post 1 or quote:
Intermediate Service
– Intermediate Service indicates that an oil and filter change is required along with several other services and inspections.
The timing/distance of this reminder may vary based on the above parameters. Saab strongly recommends that your first service (Intermediate Service) be performed when Intermediate Service is displayed on your SID or no later than 1 year or 16,000 kilometres (whichever comes first) from your Saab's delivery date. The SID will also provide a reminder for subsequent Intermediate Services.
Saab recommends that these also be performed when Intermediate Service is displayed on the SID, but no later than one year or 16,000 kilometers (whichever comes first) from the last Intermediate Service.
see my previous link on how to reset the oil life %
I just got 1% for next service/intermediate

first year 16344Kms/10215miles dealer refuse to change oil...... reset SID to 75% on it to main service.
second year 25324kms/15287 miles dealer changed oil and filter ...I reset SID to 57% on it to main service.
going on to be the third year 35341Kms/22088miles (low mileage 6801 miles per year, most in the summer, long distances trips by highway, a few cold starts ). my oil is like new.

After I have changed the oil the last year, see the oil color of the dipstick

and now..

after one year no much change, it looks to be the same color no dark. for that reason I think the oil could be good for another year.
then, I reset the SID without change the oil.
see the steps:

after this message appear (mechanical control to make) on the SID you must go to options menu

you must select and set necessary service >intermediate

the next screen will show you to reset the oil indicator:

set to yes and all done it.

why to 40% to main service?
in the first year... reset SID to 75% to main service. No oil change (low mileage)
in the second year ...I reset SID to 57% to main service. yes oil change (low mileage)
in the third year.... 40% to main service............; no oil change. (low mileage)

EUR 154 or US$200 for an oil change. With those prices, longer change intervals do become much more important.

Interesting thread with pictures you have going here.

If I didn't use snow tires, I'd change them any time of the year.
I had requested Michelin Primacy HP and they assembled Michelin pilot Sport3 97Y more sporty tires. my sons use the pilot sport in their cars and wear thread very soon as a soft rubber for sporty tires. the garages purchase a great quantity of one type of tires to get a good price but they have not all the types names, just compatibility tires.

about my checking tires at home, I have found,
-positive: good price.
-negative:
-I had to go out the garage to the coffee bar to wait for the tires assembled process,
-some small marks spots in the rims wheels,
-11 caps bolts cracked and misalignment; I have replaced all the set with new caps.

-I have requested 110N tight torque. I have found one bolt with less torque the others overtightened.
-pressure tires too low 2.0 Bar.
-rims no cleaned, and some assembled marks in the tires.
in resume: on the hurry mechanics alway making mistakes.
nothing to claim as my mate from work recommended this garage for a good budget, cheaper than other places.

My costs have been low.

Dealers and most of the garage repair don't allow customer to watch in the place of work...., for security reasons to avoid accidents and responsibilities.
today I have been checking the tires and they did a good job. only the low pressure 2.0 kpa and I set to 2.8 Kpa, also as I have mentioned in my last post, new set of 20 cap bolts; but one at the end, the ride is fine, smooth and straight ahead, not much noise and comfortable.
the tires are manufactured in France, dated on: two in the week 47/10, and the others week 49/2010.
