poor reliability in your car, handicapper in quality control car .

my Opel Omega with 14 years I have only replaced the switch reverse light and one battery; two H1 bulbs headlights; and front pads.

my 2007 Saab V6, (with four years, 44400kms) I only have replaced the coolant tank and gas cap filler. the pads brakes look in the half life for good.

    Itv

well, my car is getting older, four years old and I have received a letter from the Home Office to be inspected by the ITV (vehicles tecnical inspection) before the 20th of February.
For its part, traffic law, motor vehicle traffic and road safety, provides that the fine may be imposed for not passing the ITV may amount to 300 €.
the main objective of the technical inspection of vehicles (ITV) is to check, verify and ensure that it meets the minimum requirements set by law about its roadworthiness. It is intended that the fleet has a consistent level of safety.

    note apart:
I have checked the brake pads with the cell phone camera.

Feb,16th, I have yesterday passed satisfactory the vehicles technical inspection (Itv). good brakes tests (front 3.60//3.60 rear brakes 2.0//2.0 and parking brakes 1.6//1.60).

I have paid €36.45 for the first inspection; next within two years (when the car is ten years old then every year for inspection).

do you open the hood after you turn off the engine?

the sporty cars (BMW; MERCEDES;:::: )also SAAB, get very warm engine bay after turn off to refrigerate the turbo.

    - the parts in the engine bay must fulfill hot temperatures specifications for the engine; but some of them, seems to fail... as the coolant tank, oil brake cap, the coolant cap, short battery life and battery cover cracks.

I have replaced only one battery in three and a half years (omega car battery still working from year 2002) too short life. also one coolant reservoir.
-to avoid theses issues ...aging the engine parts, I use to open the hood will help.

I have cut the battery protection cover in my Opel Omega, see picture (before cutting)

    and after

and I placed inside the plastic battery box to insulate the turbo side and avoid the box battery contractions. by this way I hope to protect the battery for longer life and plastic cover contractions to avoid deformations and cracks.

    my question is:
do you open the hood to refrigerate the engine bay after shut off the engine?
