What about selling SW stuff? I know SL did that awhile back with shirts and it seems to get a lot of interest and orders and I'd totally be down for one. That and/or donations. I've got $5....

I'll be happy with whatever is decided but as we asking for preferences .. I'll go with
1. Donations from members and visitors
2. Advertising (Google) for visitors and 3. Advertising (sponsors)..
Advertising (sponsors) should be limited, if possible, to Saab parts suppliers etc.
Donations, on an annual basis with a suggestiion for dues of 10 or 20.
Personally I'm allergic to PayPal but I've got a 20 in my wallet just waiting for an address in MichiganCheers from a little town 3 hours Saabing south west of Huy

That made me smile on this dreary Monday morning.
It's interesting to see donations is the most popular choice so far and is my preferred way to go as well.

Blah, blah and more blah
No funding is better than paying but all things have a price?
If you do go to funding please don't use PayPal since they just burned me and another forum that I donated to was nice and got things squared away. It seems PayPal policy for forums is that donations are carried automatically to the next year. I was leaving and tossed $25 as a quick thanks on my way out but PayPal billed not only another year but twice and the policy is keep billing till you call and tell them to quit. But it took the mods had to tell them so I doubt if I would do that again. All I could get out of the "PP rep" was that ... "Sir, you authorized payment" and indeed yes, I did but the prior year for one time.
Give what to whom? Good question but with SC being mentioned as a commercial site, am I going to be sanctioned or feel restrained on being fairly (within reason), critical of a product or an issue? I think it negates the whole purpose and meaning of forum and cherry picking at the whim of the site mods is evident there. Not only on the issue of E-L-k .. partz and such (vendors), but they censor the most innocent of words. Part of a forum is the ability to be critical. I see some very wicked trash talk on some of those.Last edited by tunnanxwd; 18 April 2011 at 23:47.

I was waiting for the site move to the new host being completed. I'll need to look into it some more to see what other options we have besides Paypal. The thing with Paypal is that you don't need to have a Paypal account. You can use any credit card without having to sign up with them.
The vBulletin software lists these providers for easy integration. But besides Paypal, I haven't heard of these before.

NOCHEX
Worldpay

I think the biggest complication is going to be what we classify this as. Lots of the places (I'm pretty sure PayPal will at least) want this (SaabWorld) to be classified as a business, or Not-for-profit, non-profit, personal...
Also, Google has Google Checkout as another possibility.Free SaabWorld Stickers
