  • New Saab parts company: Maptun Parts

Saab Parts in Sweden will get some competition from Maptun. P4 West reports Maptun started a new company that will directly compete with Saab Parts AB and other major players in the market, says CEO Fredrik Bengtsson.

"This is where we enter the market. It will take time to build but we clearly want to compete for customers.

The new company Maptun Parts, based in Orebro, will only sell original OEM Saab parts. Previously, the company has been working with engineering services, building engines and upgrading cars.

Fredrik Bengtsson thinks there is room for an additional spare parts business despite Saab's bankruptcy and he sees a future demand for spare parts.

"Each Saab needs a few thousand kronor in spare parts every year. When you add that up, it becomes a large amount of money" he says.

Maptun estimates sales of around 15 million kronor (1.8 million euro) within 1 to 2 years. The initial focus will be on sales in Sweden but they will also look for distribution in the rest of the world.
