Changes for the Saab 9-5 through the years - North America
The question about differences of all the model years comes up quite often so I started with a list. I am sure I missed many items so please add to the list or point out anything that is incorrect. This list is based on press releases by Saab, car reviews and memory.
I am not sure about the differences between the USA and Canada but I assume they are pretty similar. If not, please point those out as well. The reason this list is only for North American models is because we have a limited choice of engines, equipment and special versions. And it's the market I am most familiar with.
I'll split up the 3 distinctive model year ranges in 3 different posts: 1999-2001, 2002-2005 and 2006-2009.
Please add to this thread when you see any inaccuracies or have new information.Last edited by nordwulf; 21 October 2010 at 20:23.

For 2004, the rear heated seat option was deleted, cars were not even pre-wired for it. A source at Saab said it was a cost cutting measure. It re-appeared in the 2005 model year.
