A very interesting idea. I'm sure Saab will consider potential drawbacks and design around them. Drawbacks could include putting too many vital controls on the system, like heating or radio which could cause driver distraction and accidents, touchscreen degradation over several years (my Palm's touchscreen is nowhere as responsive after several years), need to pay for monthly internet for the car, and the worry that anti-virus software is not perfect, exposing the car to malware. On the other hand, advances in computer technology has brought antilock brakes, traction control, and better engine management.
IQon may be in competition with the smart phone. In the early to mid 1990's, car phones were in competition with cell phones. The portability of cell phones won out even though car phones were more powerful, having up to 3 watts of power instead of handheld cell phones' maximum of 0.5W for health reasons (phone user's brain).
IQon does look especially promising for SaabWorld. It's featured prominently in the screen, upper left! (2nd and 3rd screenshot)

I LOVE how they are incorporating the aviation heritage of the brand into the system!
