The current picture looks suspiciously like a place (maybe 5 hours by a Saab car) south of the Best Place on Earth but I don't even know what the 3 clues are. Maybe one clue is the green road signs? Those are similar to those in the U.S. and Canada, not Germany or Sweden.

Bingo. David's sighting of "OMSI" is the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (we were there last week), the little black sub parked out front is the SS-581 Blueback (went in too ..... fun), and the city's aerial tram.
