Smoke from exhaust after acceleration
2 years ago I rebuilt the turbo on my 2001 9-5 SE 3.0 V6. The symptom was white smoke constantly coming from the exhaust and after the rebuild she ran great. Now, with +/- 20,000 additional miles there is smoke coming from the exhaust again but only after acceleration. Actually, if I drive very gingerly there is none. However if I step on it the least little bit, brining the turbo guage out of the white and into the orange, out comes the smoke. James Bond-like smoke screen. One big puff then it is gone. The car has always consumed oil needing about 1 quart between changes. Now it is starting to need coolant frequently. Light goes on, top it off, 2-3 weeks later do it again. It is tough to say if the smoke is the same color and consistency as it was prior to the turbo rebuild as now it is only expelled while driving. If I leave it in park and press the accelerator there is no smoke produced.
Am I looking at a turbo problem again or could there be oil or coolant being forced into the wrong spot from someplace else? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to SaabWorld. How many kilometers are on your Saab? I don't know much about the V6 engines and don't know if wear (valve guides, piston rings etc) commonly cause oil consumption. Perhaps a compression test would be a good place to start.

The engine has about 160k. I can do a compression test but I was sort of ruling that out because the oil consumption has remained steady for the 100k I have been driving the car and the smoke coming from the exhaust came on rather suddenly. I'll post the results.
