I have code p1312 and i feel that if i press on the gas hard the car has difficulties, i thought it was the turbo at 1st because when turbo hit halfway the engine started making a brrrrrr sound kinda felt like backfire i dint know if any of these are symptoms of code p1312

This P1312 thread is for the 9-5 so I'll move this to the 9-3 Workshop.

The WIS shows this information for P1312 for the 9-3:

    Ionization Signals Implausible, Sooted Sparkplugs
    Uneven running of engine

    Carbonised spark plug
Electrical fault in connected leads or in ignition coils and CDM
I would pull the plugs and see what's going on with those. When was the last time they were replaced?

    P1312 code

Can't seem to find an answer for the P1312 error on my 2006 9-3 2.0T convertible; it doesn't seem to have a DIC and I replaced all four plugs (OEM recomended NGK plugs). It still sputters when accellerating, no certain RPM range, and it evens out when you step off the gas, any ideas?

< moved your post to a new thread in the 9-3 workshop forum>

Each sparkplug has its own ignition coil in the 9-3 4-cylinder and not a DIC like the 9-5.

P1312 for the 9-3 in the WIS: Ionization Signals Implausable, Sooted Sparkplugs

    Carbonized spark plug
Electrical fault in connected leads or in ignition coils and CDM (Combustion Detection Module)

Wulf, thank you for the quick reply, hadn't seen anything in prior threads about the WIS (?) and the plugs I pulled weren't sooty. Any recommendations on whether I start replacing the ignition coils or the CDM next ?

    Thanks,
    Pete

Just FYI for anyone who googles CEL P1312 and finds this thread; I made the same mistake everyone does with after-market ignition coils and they generated more CEL. Assuming P1312 is misfire in cylinder 1 & 2, I guessed those were first two cylinders from the left while facing the engine but after some trial and error I think the cylinder numbers are 1 through 4 from driver side because she's running good with those two far right coils replaced. O'Reilly Auto Parts does carry the correct Saab/Mitsubishi coils at $122 each (mfr Direct Import) for my 2006 9-3 2.0T. Sometimes it works out to be a YouTube Mechanic.

The description of the P1312 code is: "Combustion detection cylinder 1+2, open circuit / short to B+". As diagnostic help is following added: "Fault diagnosis concerns an electrical fault in the connecting leads.". Understood as the lead/wiring between the DIC and Trionic 7 ECU, however do I believe this could be caused by a fault in the DIC detector 1+2 circuitry as well.

In the Swedish version of the P1312 description is there a bottom note, translated: "The fault code is usually thrown due to sooty spark plugs", which applies for the P1334 code as well. Here is apparantly not soot the case, however as it points towards the plugs do I assume you have correct ones installed (?).

SO change your plugs for new ones if the code come back change the DIC for a OEM one not proparts or any one not branded SEM .
