Engine drivability issues - erratic gas-pedal response
Hello Forum,
my 2007 9-3 Linear, only yet 32000Kms, 1.8t 150HP, b207e has an unpleasant difficult engine idle behaviour or somewhat 'nerveous' gas responding issues.
Especially in traffic-town low speed conditions, one needs to be very gentle with the clutch to avoid the car hubbing up-and-forth ????
I'm only driving this vehicle for 2-3weeks, and start getting very anxious about having done a real financial catastrophy here,...
Car is LPG-LPi converted (Vialle LPi-system), I already tried clutch-bleeding for air and fresh fluid (it was dark, and difficult to bleed)
Past week on the Highway, suddenly Service message: OBD-readout gave P0171 Engine misfired
Past weekend I checked the sparkplugs, and they were pitch black'd (probably due to the FLashLube Valve-saver injection, too rich)
They're not black sooty, however a hard shinny black finish deposit, that I not really could get off.
But before changing sparkplugs, I'd prefer to assure this condition will not re-occur immediate on the new ones.
So I've already run through some Forums about this, and seemingly it has to do something with several possible vacuum-tubing damage
or even EVAP tank venting?
I'm getting desperate this car is my financial black-out and a serious wrong investment,...
Anybody experience with what I'm telling here?
Are these maybe issues why LPG never got really through as a valid eco-drive solution?
My LPG-conversion was already a troublesome happening, with the installer: placing the 4th LPi-injector right above the oilfilter cover cap,
so now I can't just easily swap an oilfilter, since the whole inlet needs to be removed, to enable my oilfilter access.
And I don't like thisguy ever still touchnig my vehicle, as long as I still would keep it though.
So, any positive help will be much appreciated, thx, Harry.Everything is simple ,regarding time spend

Did you try the Dutch Saab forum? They have a forum dedicated to LPG. I had an LPG car once but that was 22 years ago.
Not sure if you know Dutch or not. What part of Belgium are you from? Wallonie or Vlaanderen?

Hi, Frank, I'm from brussels so speak the 2 languages and English.
Are you frrequent with those Saab's engine's erratic driving behaviour?
I've tried yet some issues, like the original reservoir cap,and checked those vacuum lines I could see,
However nothing resolved, I can only drive the car hard, to have a pleasant ride.
Unfortunally, slow traffic the car remains hicking-up, and run restless.
Seems like the idle throttle regulation is flipping somehow.
And I thought having done a good buy, I'm getting desperate,...Everything is simple ,regarding time spend

Ooh, yes, one more detail:
it happens at both fuels: gasoline as well on LPG,
I re-checked the sparks past weekend, at they remained much more cleaner,
so lowering the FLashlube valve-saver fluid injection did its trick,
except for that my engine remains driving like a wild pony...all of the sudden,...
To be continued next week,...
Sheers and thanks for any clear response or tipEverything is simple ,regarding time spend

LPG conversion
I suppose, you need a full TECHII diagnostics to understand the issue and read the right error code. It can bee one of throttle sensors (there are two of them), it can be a problem with ignition timing, spark plugs etc.
When I converted to LPG at next day I changed spark plugs to special temperature resistant LPG suitable NGK spark plugs - this can help as the old spark plugs can be "burned" on LPG and make a wrong ignition timing..
I as LPG converted, sometimes also feel some not really smooth acceleration on both LPG and petroleum - but the thing is that engine ECU adapts to the LPG and if LPG is not properly adjusted (copying the petrol ignition curve), the same symptoms can start when driving petroleum.
Does someone knows something about possibility to re-program the B207E ECU to bi-fuel settings - the local TECHII guy says this could be a solution to stop never ending ECU adaptation to LPG settings - could this be helpful??
