Hi EuroMobile900,
I tore down a pair of front caliper using you post and finally got the parking brake working. Thank you!
I have a spare pair of front calipers that I want to rebuild. When tearing down, I notice that the roll pin was loose, as in floating around on the inside of the piston. See the attach pics.
Is this piston toast?

Hi, sorry for delay in replying, just notice email in spam folder. as long as the piston surfaces are free of rust spots they should be ok. the roll pin shouldn't be loose as it may fall out and you would lose the automatic handbrake adjustment, try the roll pin in the other way up, or get another pin or find a way of locking it in the hole.
I can't tell from the pictures but the other problem area is the pin that screws into the adjustment mech. this needs to be smooth and free of rust as well or brake fuild will find it's way into the handbrake mech and rust it.

Thanks for your reply.
When you say "locking it in the hole", should I tack weld it in there. Or would just tapping it in securely be sufficient?
Thanks again and Happy New Year.
