Question 2006 Saab 9-5 Aftermarket HID Install

Hi, I'm to Saabs and this site so hello to everyone!

I recently got HID headlight and fog lights installed and I get an error on my SID saying both headlight and fog light failure. Both do not come up at once but I have seen them both, the guy that installed them put something on them, not relays but something similar that he said will fix my issue but it has not. He's still looking into it so I thought I would ask some Saab experts what they think the issue could be!

So my question is, have the been installed properly? Do they need relays instead of what he put on there also, do the fog lights need them as well?

Any advice is very much appreciated.

The lamp outage relay looks for curent flow of equivalent to 55 to 100 Watts. Since your HIDs draw 35 watts you are getting the message. You can bypass the relay since it grounds a ciruit to sid to signal a lamp out.

Thanks for the quick response Yamarocket630. So you're saying I don't need the resistor? Also, if I used a 55watt ballast would tha correct the issue?

There is a pin you can bend on the orange light relay int he relay box under the hood.
