93SE 2003 Convertible roof gets stuck when opening or closing
Hi,
I'm having some issues with my convertible. When I want to open the roof, just as it is almost open, the roof gets stuck on the flap that opens up to let the roof drop into the car. If have tried to draw it in below attached image, hope it is clear enough. In the image the black drawn part is the flap that opens up and the blue part is the roof that folds up. When it is in the position of the image, the roof gets stuck on the flap. I have tried to look for any potential issues but haven't found any. I'm not sure if the issue is that the flap isn't going back far enough or that the roof is going back too far.
Has anyone experienced this and what can I do to fix this?
Thanks!

Great thanks! I just hope getting the part to South Africa won't be too much of a mission. It's tough enough already to find Saab mechanics here :-)

I am having the same problem with my 1999. Did you get a chance to see if this fixed the issue?

I had this same exact issue with my 03 9-3 vert a few years back when I owned the car. I needed to replace the shear pin in the u-joint for the tonneau cover. It is located in the trunk and not very difficult if you are somewhat handy. This should be the same for a 1999 car as well. From what I understand, it is a somewhat common issue.
Here is a PDF to help.

I had a similar problem on my 01' 9-3. It was a broken shear pin and a broken u-joint.
