Interesting...if it is a washer from a bearing shell bolt, then the only way to know, would be to take the oil pan off and check all of your bearing bolts, correct? It would seem odd that a bolt holding a bearing in would still be in place, yet somehow it's washer has broken free...Nice of Thieuke to offer to take some photos of the insides of the B308, looking forward to seeing those.

I'm was very busy today with removing the engine, but the central nuts off the wheel axles did not want to go loose. So I decided to make my live a bit easier by removing the two cilinderheads and stripping down the engine so it becomes lighter and easier to handle.

So the short block is still in the car, attached to the automatic transmission, and I sprayed the central nuts with wd40 so they will come loose later, but I don't have the time this week to go further working on the car, so I'm sorry to inform you that I'm not been able too look inside the engine yet.

I hope it's not off a bearing shell.
That would be some kind of force to bust it. Not to mention the loose bolt that will be... Hanging down...?
I'm interested in what it could be too.

Are the results with in range? Please advise. THANKS and REGARDS.

    Any updates?
The dry compression test looks a little low to me but I'm not a mechanic.

It happens to be that I'm currently disassembeling a 3.0t v6 Saab 9-5, this weekend I'm going to take the engine out. I will take a look in the engine, behind the sump to see wether such washers are a part of the b308. I'll even make pictures, so you can see.

The washer is probably shiny because it was loose for a while and bumped into stuff in the sump. You want to be sure? take of the sump and have a look yourself.
Agreed, best to pull the oil pan, have a close look around, if nothing unusual is found and everything is intact, put it back together and keep motoring !!
