    Busted Radiator Hose: Engine Trouble

    Hi all,

I recently had a lower radiator hose burst, dumping a bunch of coolant, and now I am worried about what may have happened to my engine. After getting off the highway, I heard a pop, then saw a large plume of whitish smoke from the exhaust. I managed to park it shortly afterward, then replaced the radiator hoses, but I noticed a beige sludge in the coolant reservoir along with a hissing noise coming from the area around the intake manifold.

My question is: How likely is it that the engine overheated and busted a head gasket? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To early to say if you blew a head gasket, but from what you've described here it's a real good possibility and after you replace the hose and coolant it won't take long to find out. Does sound like you will be needing a new intake gasket and if that's all it needs consider yourself lucky.
