2000 9-5 Gary Fisher
I picked up this as my first Saab back in January. Paying only $700 I knew it was going to need a bunch of work. Even the Craigslist add talked about the transmission cables being broken.
Day after I bought it
I am only the third owner. The guy I bought it from only had it a year. 367 days to be exact. He bought it as a basic run around vehicle but the common Saab issues became too much for him I guess.
In some aspects it was worse off then I thought but a lot better in others. They body and chassis is completely rust free. There is only some minor damage to the front bumper and hood. It did have all the common 9-5 issues.
What I have replaced or fixed in the last 5 months
Shift cable bushing
ABS module
Battery
Heater blend door
Dropped the oil pan to clean the pick up screen
Valve cover gasket
Timing chain tensioner seals
Front seal
Crank pulley. (My fault actually)
One wheel that had a huge chunk missing. ( need to replace one more that is bent)
One tire with a bubble in the sidewall
All new power stop brake kit
Front wheel bearings
Idler pulley
Tensioner pulley
SERP belt
Replaced a bunch of bulbs
Replaced dash lights with led
Replaced the Sid
Installed k&n open air filter
Crank position sensor
Air temp sensor
DI cassette
Semi custom exhaust. Muffler and down stream cat delete.( not loud at all)
Window rollers
Radio with a android based Headunit
Redid the window tint
Went to replace the alarm batteries just to find out the modular itself was gone.
I know there is some other things I can’t think of right now.
The car is running great now. No engine codes anymore on my universal scan tool. Now I can focus on the suspension. The rear auto leveling shocks are bad. Been looking at options and I think I will go with just the koni and vogland springs. Some 18 or 19 inch wheels are also in the future. Maybe later on go with the 15g turbo and a stage 1 aero tune. Was planning on spraying the front bumper this weekend but we had some massive Thunderstorms the last few days.
Here is how it looks now with a good cleaning and wax

A few more
My home made emblems. Just a quick attempt to see if it will hold up.
I do powder coating as kinda a hobby so it was just natural to make the engine look decent.

Update:
A month after I posted this a hit a deer. Literally the day I was going to take the car on a 1100 mile trip to Arizona.
I happened to catch it on my dash cam that came with the head unit in installed.

I have since put the front end back together. The fenders and bumper were fine. The only decent hood I could find locally was silver. Looked weird for a couple weeks.
It has since been wrapped. Luckily I was able to most the parts fairly cheap.
Hood $200
Lights and corner lights $160
Radiator $50
Grill $45
I installed a front mount intercooler I had laying around but found a factory one on eBay for $18 shipped. If anything I can use it for better mounting of the ac condenser once I get it.
Motor wise nothing happened except a few burst hoses. I needed to change a few of them anyways
