Radio not working
Hey all, the radio on my 2002 9-5 linear wagon stopped working the other day after I went over a bump. I've been reading around on other blogs and there's a lot of talk about amp1 being a major problem. However, my blinkers still function normally and click as they should. Also, when I try to play a CD it plays over the speakers but the sound is terrible. Any idea what could be wrong? Is there a loose connection somewhere that I can check?

My radio stopped working altogether, no lights or sign of life other than CD still ejects so power is there. I also had battery draw so car would no start after several hours. in the past the radio worked couple of times for few days. The parasitic battery draw was always there, sometimes more, sometimes less.
I took out the radio and the battery holds charge now for over 24hours OK.
I would like to keep original Saab Pioneer radio.
At the moment I have no radio.
What should be my next step in this problem?
PS: Where precisely is Amp on this car? Nothing under the seats as in other Saabs.

Thank You. I have read your posting previously but it does not indicate where to look for Amp on my Saab. I have looked around various posts and still cant locate the Amp.
I don't really know what is wrong with my radio and why i created parasitic battery drain.

The amp is #3 in the images here: http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?...0522#post40522
There is only an amp if you have the AS2 / AS3 audio system. The AS1 does not have an external amp.
This is on the passenger side for LHD cars and I assume it will be on the driver side on RHD cars.

I have a Pioneer radio with 7 speakers so it shoul be AS2.
Car is RHD so I presume the Amp is I vicinity of fuse board.
I attempt to look through hole above fuse board but did not see or recognise what could be the Amp.
Secondly, the blinkers in Saab are beepingso Amp might be OK?
my mission is to fix the radio and stop parasitic battery drain
which has been there for a very long time (previous owner)

The turn signal sounds come through the SID and not the audio system.
I think there is a fuse at the back of the audio head unit so check to see if that's still good.
The amplifier is behind a cover in the foot-well. Instructions to remove and fit: saab_9-5_amplifier_remove_fit_instructions.pdf
These are instructions for LHD cars so may be different for yours. There aren't any instructions for RHD in the WIS.

Thank you. Fuse was good. I also did remove & reinserted fuses 9, 13 & 21 while engine was running, this supposed to jolt radio into working (advice from mechanic) -didn’t work for me.

Are the connectors for the head unit and antenna still secured to the cage? When I took out my head unit and put it back in, one of the connectors and/or antenna pushed out to the back and didn't make a good connection. I think the antenna provided the ground for the head unit.

I think the connections were good.
I took out the cage and connected connectors directly to to head unit including antenna.
No joy at all, radio dead but can eject CD.
There is 12V power at pin +30 that I measured with multi-meter.
