Does faulty ABS/Traction control stop the steering lock working 9.31.9tid
Drove through heavy rain. ABS light came on and the TC light as well. Got home and switched off. Next day the steering lock did not click and that is how it has stayed. Take out the key and the lock does not work. No trouble starting . Is there an interlock between the ABS and the steering lock? The rear wheel sensor on the right is not working . The car is RHD

Had a similar problem with my 9-3 when the right rear wheel sensor wire broke at the flex point, only difference is my wheel stopped locking, stopped clicking and didn't lock, but I have left hand drive.
Have looked at every wire diagram thinking this could be a useful workaround for locked wheel and found nothing that would connect this to the lock mechanism and best guess is unexpected program operation with broken ABS sensor wire.
Don't toss your wheel sensor before checking where cable is wire tied to suspension about a foot back from wheel sensor. Clip the tie, pull wire from plastic loom give the wire a gentle tug and if it pulls apart fix the broken wire and save yourself the cost of new sensor.

I have heard that the steering lock stays off as a safety measure when there is a faut with the SBS/TC I do not know how true this is. LHD or RHD makes no difference. It would not surprise me knowing Saab

I have changed the sensor on the rear RH wheel. The steering lock is back working so i guess there must be a link somewhere. No mention of it in Saab literature but it seems so. LHD or RHD should make no difference
