    Frank:
I see that the Carlyle event has been moved to August. Any news on the Saab Convention date being moved or postponed?
Thanks and Hello from Cape Cod!

Too bad this was cancelled and now moved to 2021. While the current situation should be taken seriously, I imagine events like this (especially outside) could work with property social distancing rules and precautions. But also understand most organizations and clubs don't want to take the responsibility in case something happens at an event like this.

Are there any plans whatsoever to have this event? If not, what would it take to host it? I'm happy to find a site & handle the logistics, if that's what it takes. It would save me having to travel!

    Thanks!

I wouldn't go even if vaccinated. There are thousands of people still dying and so many cases. In fact the number of cases is increasing. The pandemic will not be close to being over in 3 months. Ugh.

    2022, there's hope.

No. The pandemic is not over. On April 1, 2021, I wrote "The pandemic will not be close to being over in 3 months. Ugh. 2022, there's hope." Three months is one week away and the pandemic is not even close to being over.

The good news is that a lot of people in the U.S. have been fully vaccinated. 45.2% have received 2 doses and will be considered "fully vaccinated" in two weeks (early July). On the other hand, that means a majority of people are not vaccinated in the US. In Mississippi, where there are a few Saab owners, only 28.87% of the population will be fully vaccinated in two weeks meaning 71.3% of the population is not fully vaccinated.

More than 20% of new Covid-19 cases are of the Delta variant (possibly as high as 31% nationally and 40% in some areas), which possibly leads to more serious illness and is more easily transmissible. Delta variant was only 2% of cases in the US 4 weeks ago. Delta variant is now 96% of cases of Portugal. The Pfizer vaccine is only 33% effective against the Delta variant after one dose and 88% effective after two. That means 12% ineffective.

Note that I am not saying that people who attend are evil people but there still are significant risks to those who attend and those who attend and come home to have contact with elderly relatives. Even young relatives can develop brain fog and other long term effects if they contract Covid-19.

Sure, things are better than they once were but the war is not over. Unfortunately, the war to revive Saab is over. There will be no more new Saab cars produced. Ugh. Good luck to those who attend in Albany, NY.

Its a beautiful time of the year to hold the event.
All of the Northeast is open end enjoying life with friends and family.
Looking forward to traveling up the Mohawk Trail (Rt 2)to the event and visit with fellow Saabers.
