Hi All,
After a long time of just reading, I thought it's time to register to the Forum
I have a long history with Saab, starting in the mid 80's as a teenager who saw
an advert in the Members Journal of the German Automobile Club (ADAC) for
a Saab 9000 and fell in love with the car. I then owned one in the mid 90's for some
time but it got to expensive for me and I had to sell it. I never lost my passion for this
brand but for a lot of years I owned and drove more budget oriented cars like VW, Ford and
of course VW ...
4 years ago I started over with a Saab 9-3 I which unfortunately I had to sell again because
the motor made problems and I did not have the budget to have it fixed that time. Back to VW...
Well, now, since 6 Weeks, again proud owner of a Saab. This time a 98 9-5 Sedan. Also some
Motor stuff to fix (most important the chains...) but this time the budget to get it fixed is in sight.
I hope this will be a long relationship with her- the basis is relatively good, if I can manage to get her
heart fixed, she will stay with me :-)
I hope I can contribute to this forum a little bit to give some of the help back I have received just by reading the
posts.
Kind regards
Marco

Hey Marco,
Valkommen! I have had three SAABs in my life, and yes, like with any vehicle we must maintain them. I have also been on a budget ( I am a tutor, non-union sadly, with two kids and three grand-children) , but I have to say that my 84 900, my 99 9-3, and my current 2001 9-5 wagon have been dependable cars, which i've really enjoyed driving over the last fifteen years. You must watch our turbos, though. I have had to pay out for speeding tickets a couple of times, and they cost a lot here in New York.

Hi Tunk,
many thanks for the warm welcome
I know that these swedish ladies want to be taken good care of...
Fresh oil at least every 10k Km, have a DI always in the trunk, only take
NGK sparkplugs etc...
And you are right, always watch your right foot on the pedal, else it can get
expensive
But that is exactly one of the reasons why I love Saabs (esp. the older ones)- pure safety, pure understatement
and a nice surprise for them who understimate them...
Kind regards
Marco
