Exclamation 07 Saab 9-5 2.3t bio - Engine getting hot under 5mins mark

    HI,

I just bought a 07 Saab 9-5 2.3t biofuel with know Top engine leak (going to fix this, this week), but now I discovered that the engine is getting hot quite quick (comparing to my BMW) even on the cold day. I did check OBD for any error code but it was empty - maybe error where cleaned before the car was sold.

I think to coolant might not be flowing properly - maybe be a new temp sensor or valve by pass is needed - any hint?

Another thing I found while looking under the hood that there is a cable lose right next to the valve by pass, but facing (or zip tide) way from the valve by pass.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

I would recommend starting with replacing the thermostat. Inexpensive and pretty easy to do yourself. And while you're in there, replacing the temperature sensor is a good idea as well.

BTW, do you know what kind of cable can be running loose at the back side of the engine? I have attached pictures now.
