Question Convertible 9-3 2.0T 2008 Error message ?only manual operation possible? Help!!

My roof stopped working and when I would hit the button only the windows would go down. So switch works and is communicating with STD but system is taking windows down but not the top.

I took it my car to my mechanic and he checked all the sensors in the soft top system and they were all good.

With the scanner the top worked and he could raise and lower it. The hydraulic system is fine works great with scanner and no leaks.

So based on the fact that it works fine with GM scanner I was guessing the Soft Top Control module was bad and ordered one off eBay

Installed STC module and system behaves as before windows go down but not top. No errors show.

    Help!!

I think what is happening is the STC thinks the top is down and is jumping to the last thing in the sequence which is windows go down. Anyone who has any idea why this might happen please comment.

I don't know if the 2008 has the same module, but if it does it's about 4" long about 2" wide and a little over an inch tall with a 10 pin plug hiding under the drivers seat. Checked for cable corrosion and ground connection.
