Saab 9-3 e-code european bumper strips

9-3's sold in the USA and Canada have orange lights and reflectors in the front bumper strips. Some 9-3 owners in the USA replace these with the standard black strips available in the rest of the world to give the front a cleaner look. Replacement is easy and only takes a few minutes. I purchase mine from GenuineSaab for $45 + shipping in 2006.



Take off the bumper strips using a butter knife or screw driver. Tape of the end to prevent scratching the bumper. Lift it out a little with the screw driver and continue with your fingers. The bumper is made of a softer material and easily dents when using too much force.



Take the light socket out of the bumper strip and remove the bulb.



Use some tape to keep out moisture and secure the cable and housing with a cable tie to the bumper.



Snap in the euro bumper strips and you're done.

what about the "side marker failure" indication on SID. how can i get off it ?

Must goto a SAAB shop who has a Tech2 and have them programmed off the cars data bus. Figure about 1/2 hour labor cost - or find a guy who'll take care of you for free

I think you can leave the bulbs in as well so the SID won't show the message. Perhaps tape them up so there won't be any stray light if any.
