I stopped by the Swedish Mechanic in Irvine, CA when I was living there in 2006/07. I was looking for a quote to have shocks replaced. They took the time to discuss everything and quoted a price that was much lower than the Saab dealer. It was a modern building in a new office complex and the place looked organized. He noticed the Swedish export plates on my 9-3 and we talked a while about EDP. He's originally from Sweden.
I didn't have any work done in the end but if I need work done on my Saab and I am in SoCal, I would definitely go back there again.

I never actually took my car to Mike at Conntech but have heard great things about his shop. I did speak with him over the phone one day and he told me to take the car to the dealer to check on a recall on my springs first to make see if I could get free labor. He could have easily tried to talk me in to bringing the car to his place... seems like a real honest guy.

Took mine in to disable the DRLs, excellent service, nice people, reasonable rates. It's a shame that I have to travel 3 hours one way to get to them.

Only went there to get a fob programmed, but I've called them several times and every time they are great! Nice people, and very knowledgeable.

Personal friend, very good with all SAABs, also Jeeps. He started working on the two-strokes and hasn't quit since.

Got wheel bearings pressed in by these guys--very knowledgeable, both for SAAB and BMW, old and new.

This guy has a saab 99 graveyard, including a number of Chillcast gearboxes. He owns a 93 two stroke, a 96 with a V6 engine in, a couple of 99s, and a gaggle of rusty 900s, including an SPG. Top bloke.

Not a Saab shop but the folks at Main Street Motors in Ann Arbor have been our mechanics for 20+ years on all our cars. Knowledgeable and quick.

I found this guys web site in Appelton, Wisconsin. Went there to have my Sump dropped. Very reasonable, quite friendly, only work on Saab, 2nde generation shop. The owner is Tony and his dad, who recently passed away, was a pretty famous Ice Racer (Saabs of course). It is a really good shop and well worth my 100 mile direve to get there. One thing, he does not look at his e mail too often so it would be best to call them. The Auto Shop Online

All these independents are in the Garage business directory now. They also show up on the Garage business map: SaabWorld - Saab Garage
There are not that many yet but it's a good start. It would be nice if we can have all Saab dealers in here as well. Worldwide!Volunteers are always welcome.
