Saab 9-5 Xenon headlamp, changing bulbs and control module WIS

To remove

1. Turn the ignition key to LOCK.

2. Remove the headlamp, see Headlamp.

3. Undo the clip securing the xenon lamp.



4. Lift the xenon lamp straight out from the headlamp.

5. Unplug the xenon lamp.

Important
ESD-SENSITIVE COMPONENT
Earth yourself by touching the car body before plugging in / unplugging components. Do not touch the component pins. Read "Before changing a control module" before changing a control module.

6. Unscrew the control module.



7. Lift up the control module and unplug the connector.



To fit

1. Plug in the control module.



2. Fit the control module into the headlamp.



3. Plug the connector to the xenon lamp.



4. Position the bulb by carefully inserting it straight into the headlamp housing.

5. Snap on the clip securing the xenon lamp.

6. Fit the headlamp, see Headlamp.

Model year 2006-2009




1. Turn the ignition key to LOCK.

2. Remove the headlamp, see Headlamp.

3. Rotate the catch, which retains the xenon lamp, anticlockwise.



4. Lift the xenon lamp straight out from the headlamp.\

5. Unplug the xenon lamp.

6. Unscrew the control module.



7. Lift up the control module and unplug the connector.

Refitting

1. Plug in the control module.



2. Fit the control module into the headlamp.



3. Plug the connector to the xenon lamp.



4. Position the bulb by carefully inserting it straight into the headlamp housing.

5. Rotate the catch clockwise



6. Fit the headlamp, see Headlamp.

Not to sound thick, but the xenon lamps are the HID's, right?

Yes, those are the same thing. On a side note, projector lights like the 9-3 and 2006+ 9-5 can either be halogen or xenon.
