"Saab doesn't build automobiles. Saab builds Saabs"
"busy whirring and churning transmitted back by the propulsive machinery"
"all of the controls are good but more than somewhat unconventional"
"the entire seat moves up and down, and tilts, and slides forward and back"

Using an inflation calculator, $3,300 in 1970 is $18,030 in 2009. So about the price of a VW Jetta with some options in today's market.

I like today's Saabs but sometimes I wish I had a simpler car like this. Being able to hear "whirring and churning transmitted back by the propulsive machinery" sounds quite nice, actually. Perhaps I need to find a 99 or earlier model.

I would love a 99... especially a 99 Turbo. A 99 Turbo has to be my most desired Saab at the moment. There is a 99 (EMS I think) for sale on eBay right now... 6 grand will get you it, and it looks to be in immaculate condition, and it's from California, so no rust! It is nice being able to look under the hood of a car, and the only plastic you see is what holds some fluid.
