    Saab 9.3 1999 4dr hatchback, speaker/head unit install

Hello, I just got a 1999 year 9-3 saab and i would like to know if anyone knows how to replace the speakers and the head unit...i was told by my local audio store that it is very difficult just for this model...is this true and can it be done at home?

If I remember correctly (I was not willing to give it a try at the time) but they do not make a fit kit for the head unit in these cars, so the place I went to had to make one for it. But the speakers shouldn't be any harder than any other vehicle... although there is an amp in the center console that can be tricky to get to.

do you remember if you need to remove the amp? and can a new one be connected? also ive heard a lot about soldering the wires or just clamping them together which one is better when installing the head unit? and where could you get a soldering tool thanks.

The amp depends on how much power you need for you speakers and headunit. I'm really iffy on electronics... sorry. But it's always better to solder the wires. Gives you a much better connection, and you should be able to get solder tools from any hardware store such as Lowes, HomeDepot, Sears.
