We had a great run of 16 years, and I’m grateful to everyone who contributed over the years. But we also have to acknowledge how much the online landscape has changed. Social media platforms like Facebook and Reddit have largely replaced traditional forums as the primary places for enthusiasts to connect and share information. Other companies have taken over many of the enthusiast run and owned forums.
The demise of Saab as a company certainly didn’t help, either. The newest Saabs are now more than 15 years old, and many have earned classic-car status, proudly displayed at meetups and Saab conventions. While you may still spot the occasional Saab serving as a daily driver, they have become increasingly rare.
More recently, unauthorized bot activity and other abusive traffic have become an increasing challenge. Keeping the forum running has required a considerable amount of time and effort from both the hosting provider and myself. Artificial Intelligence enabled searches now present the information you are looking for without the need to visit any of the sites where that information came from.
